Tudor Rose Of England

Roses in the Art
Roses have provided inspiration for many art forms. The rose was featured in the architecture of ancient Assyria and Babylon. Their form was also clearly the basis for the great rose’s windows which grace the churches and cathedrals throughout Europe.

Roman Roses
The Romans grow roses for their beauty and fragrance, using them to perfume their baths, Roman woman believed that the rose not only made them smell good, but possessed healing, anti-ageing properties, and so they used rose essence as a skin emollient.
